How I Work / Donation

Many contemporary spiritual guides, day-keepers, and healers charge for their services. In accordance with the K'iche Maya tradition, I do not charge for my services as a spiritual guide. I believe, as my teachers do, that charging for our services reduces their effectiveness. Traditionally, this work was recognized through gifts of appreciation for the work that the Ajq'ij performs for an individual. Charging for these services undermines their spiritual power. Many people mistakenly believe that adopting the commercial standards of capitalism is a “natural and normal” aspect of modern spirituality. Instead, this viewpoint erodes the power of faith and gratitude in our spiritual work.

Since we are working with the spiritual energies and Ancestral Authority, we do not “own” this knowledge or wisdom. Healing and insight come from the spirit realms, not from an Ajq'ij. Instead of charging, I welcome your gifts of appreciation, just as I hope you welcome the gifts of wisdom, healing and insight you receive from me.

None of my teachers have ever charged me for their services, and neither shall I. This maintains a high degree of integrity in our work. I have compensated those who have opened my path and nurtured my spiritual training with gifts, usually of cash, but also gifts of items that I know are of use to my teachers. So rather than charging for my services, I give them freely and in return receive your gifts with great appreciation.
